Vocation as Ambassadorship: Sent into Every Square Inch

Episode 15 — Vocation as Ambassadorship: Sent into Every Square Inch

In the pour-over, Brian shares a fall-to-Christmas segue (and invites DIY ideas for an affordable Coffee Advent), then turns to the heart of the episode: because Jesus was sent to us, we are sent as His ambassadors into every part of life. Paul says in 2 Corinthians 5:18–21 that God reconciled us and “gave us the ministry of reconciliation… we are ambassadors for Christ.” John says in 1 John 4:11–12 that if we love one another, “God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.”

Sip Size Q&A:

Question: “How do I live as an ambassador at work without being weird—or getting in trouble?”

Begin with excellent work and honorable conduct—Paul says in Colossians 3:23 to work heartily, and Peter says in 1 Peter 2:12 to keep conduct honorable. Jesus says in Matthew 5:16 to let your light shine through good works. Be ready but respectful (1 Peter 3:15), speak graciously (Paul says in Colossians 4:6), offer prayer when invited, confess quickly when you fail, and trust God to open doors.

Counselor’s Corner — One-Week Ambassador Practice:

  • Morning prayer of sending (read 2 Corinthians 5:20 out loud).

  • Name three places you’re sent (home/work/one strained relationship) and choose one concrete act of love for each.

  • Prepare one gentle bridge sentence for spiritual conversations (Peter says in 1 Peter 3:15, “Always be prepared… yet with gentleness and respect”).

  • Nightly examen (5 minutes): give thanks for where you represented Jesus; confess where you didn’t; ask for fresh grace.
