When the Kettle Whistles: Anger, Honesty, and Holy Change
In Episode 9 of Coffee and Counseling, Brian opens up about a season when frustration boiled over into anger at home—and how the Lord led him from blame to honest, slow, repentant change. We unpack what Scripture says about anger (Eph 4:26; Jas 1:19–20; Jas 4:1–2) and how real repentance bears fruit (2 Cor 7:11). You’ll also get the A.N.G.E.R. Check—a five-step reset to acknowledge, examine, pray, speak with grace, and repair quickly.

A.N.G.E.R. Check (a 5-step reset you can practice this week)
A — Acknowledge the signal: “I’m getting hot.” Name the trigger without justifying it (James 1:19–20).
N — Notice the desire underneath: “What do I feel entitled to right now?” (James 4:1–2).
G — Give it to God: “Lord, I entrust justice and timing to You” (Romans 12:19). Slow your pour—breathe, pray Psalm 4:4.
E — Express with grace: choose words that build up, not scorch (Ephesians 4:29).
R — Repair quickly: don’t let the sun set on it (Ephesians 4:26). Apologize specifically; make a plan to do differently next time.
Coffee tip to remember it: let your emotions bloom—a brief pause helps bitterness release before you pour.
