Safe Harbor Mission Statement

Safe Harbor exists to help women experiencing destructive or abusive relationships pursue safety, wisdom, and hope through compassionate, Christ-centered care.

We believe safety includes more than protection from physical harm. We seek to help women recognize and pursue emotional, physical, sexual, spiritual, financial, relational, and family safety, while respecting the complexity of each woman’s circumstances and the decisions she may face.

“But you are a tower of refuge to the poor, O Lord, a tower of refuge to the needy in distress. You are a refuge from the storm and a shelter from the heat. For the oppressive acts of ruthless people are like a storm beating against a wall…” Isaiah 25:4 NLT

Counsel — providing individualized biblical counsel that helps women understand what they are experiencing, discern wise next steps, establish appropriate boundaries, and pursue safety without pressure or coercion.

Safe Harbor Locations — developing a network of vetted homes, ministry properties, retreat centres, and other trusted locations where women may find temporary refuge, rest, counsel, or practical support when appropriate.

Group Care — creating supportive communities where women can be heard, encouraged, equipped, and reminded that they do not have to navigate destructive relationships alone.

Safety Education — equipping women to recognize healthy and unhealthy patterns, understand the dynamics of abuse and coercive control, assess risk, identify trustworthy support, and develop practical plans for safety.

Counsel

You do not have to sort through a destructive or abusive relationship alone.

Safe Harbor offers individualized biblical counsel for women who need a safe place to be heard, understand what they are experiencing, consider risk, establish wise boundaries, and discern next steps.

Our goal is not to pressure you toward a particular outcome, but to help you pursue truth, wisdom, safety, and faithful care in the midst of difficult circumstances.

Group Care

Isolation is one of the most difficult realities of abuse.

Safe Harbor groups provide a confidential and supportive environment where women can learn, process, ask questions, and walk alongside others who understand the complexity of destructive relationships.

Through guided discussion, biblical encouragement, practical teaching, and shared support, women are given space to grow in clarity, wisdom, and hope.

Safe Harbor Locations

Sometimes safety requires a place to go.

Safe Harbor is developing a network of carefully vetted homes, ministry properties, retreat centres, and other trusted locations that may be available to women needing temporary refuge, rest, or a safe place to consider their next steps.

Each location is evaluated with safety, confidentiality, and appropriate boundaries in mind.

Safety Education

Knowing what safety looks like can be difficult when destructive patterns have become normal.

Safe Harbor equips women to recognize abuse, coercive control, manipulation, intimidation, unhealthy relational patterns, and escalating risk. We also help women understand healthy boundaries, identify trustworthy support, and think through practical safety planning.

Our desire is to replace confusion with clarity and fear with wise, informed action.

Help Make Safe Harbor Possible

Safe Harbor exists to provide women with counsel, community, practical safety support, and access to trusted places of refuge. Much of this care depends on the generosity of those who believe women facing abuse should not have to walk through it alone.

If the Lord has given you the ability to help, we invite you to prayerfully consider whether supporting Safe Harbor may be one way He is leading you to participate in this work.

Your support can help make counseling more accessible, strengthen our group care, develop and vet Safe Harbor locations, provide practical resources, and extend care to women who may have very limited financial options.

There is no pressure in this invitation. We simply ask you to consider the need, pray, and respond as the Lord leads.

The Great Commission Foundation provides the charitable giving framework through which pledges and donations designated for Safe Harbor can be received and stewarded in support of this ministry.
